Structural repairs
Timber repairs
Wet rot and dry rot, if left untreated can spread to the extent that the rot can cause major structural problems to your property. In extreme cases, the property may not be repairable. Even in less severe cases, wet rot and dry rot can still cause significant problems, potentially affecting structural timbers. If diagnosed early enough and tackled in time, then these major problems can likely be avoided. We can advise on the best course of action if you have any concerns.
Brickwork stitching
We do not only tackle structural repairs involving rotten timber though. Any masonry may deteriorate and fail over time for a variety of reasons. Many of these problems can be resolved by brickwork stitching, or crack stitching. In simple terms, brickwork stitching is the masonry repair method for repairing cracked walls and ensuring that they are reinforced. It involves retrofitting a number of stitching bars which are grouted across cracks in walls in order to reconnect them and provide stability to the masonry. At MK Damp and Timber, we offer a full brickwork stitching service using the Helifix system of remedial ties and masonry reinforcement products. If you are in any doubt, we can underake a full structural survey and advise on the best course of action.
